Talking about dreams and ideas

Talking about the future, what you wish would happen, and what you are working towards can get quite complicated. We should talk more about it - talking about our dreams is motivating!

1. A dream garden

Are you a gardener and already have your perfect garden? Do you wish for a larger or different garden, packed full of plants?

  • Draw your dream garden and label all of the plants, flowers, trees and landscaping elements.
  • Describe it to your conversation partner or group.

My dream garden would need an acre or so, to fit all the plants, ponds, and trees! But I need to be content with my small balcony garden for the time being.

2. If only …

Finish the following sentences, and add a reason why.

  • If I won the lottery, I would … because …
  • If I could play any instrument, it would be … because …
  • If I had to stop eating one food for the rest of my life, I wouldn’t eat … because …
  • If I could only do one sport for the rest of my life, it would be … because …
  • If I could only have one pet, I would choose … because …
  • If I could only keep one book with me, I would keep … because …
  • If I could visit only one place on earth, it would be … because …
  • If I had to do one job for the rest of my life, it would be … because …

3. Dear future me

Write a letter to yourself, outlining your dreams, hopes and goals for the next year.

Seal it in an envelope, and put a note in your calendar to open it in a year’s time. Or send it as an email to yourself using futureme.org.
